equip, train, elevate

Workforce Innovation Center

The Workforce Innovation Center (WIC) is Jonathan’s Landing Foundation’s national hub for reimagining the future of work, designed to equip, train, and elevate neurodiverse adults and the systems that support them.

Workforce Reimagined

Nearly 80% of adults with autism are unemployed or underemployed—not because they can’t work, but because workforce systems weren’t built with them in mind. The Workforce Innovation Center exists to change that.

By combining hands-on training, inclusive learning models, employer-aligned pathways, and applied research, the Workforce Innovation Center transforms potential into opportunity—for individuals, families, and the industries that need skilled talent.

What Is the Workforce Innovation Center?

The Workforce Innovation Center (WIC) is Jonathan’s Landing Foundation’s applied research and development engine for inclusive workforce systems—piloting, measuring, refining, and reinventing how workforce development itself is done. A workforce system is the full ecosystem that determines how someone can move from interest to skills, credentials, and real employment, with the right supports along the way.

That system includes:

Our Career Pathway

A Standards Aligned Model

Many adults with disabilities are capable of skilled work but lack access to training designed for how they learn. Traditional programs often rely on rigid instruction or assumptions of prior experience, creating barriers at the very point where opportunity should begin.

The Workforce Innovation Center removes those barriers through industry-aligned training labs and a standards-aligned pathway grounded in Universal Design for Learning. By designing flexible, hands-on training environments, we prepare learners for real jobs across in-demand industries—building certifications and career pathways that are accessible to all kinds of learners and adaptable as workforce needs evolve.

Hands-On Introduction

Short, low-pressure experiences where learners try real tools and tasks, explore interests, and build confidence.

Applied Skill Development

Guided, experiential learning that strengthens skills through real-world practice, repetition, and problem-solving at an individualized pace.

Industry-Aligned Training

Structured training connected to real jobs and recognized credentials.

Work-Based Learning

Apprenticeships, internships, or supervised practice in real work settings.

Employment and leadership

Techtonic Training Lab

Preparing the next generation of mobile device repair technicians

Hands-On Training for Technician Careers

The Techtonic Training Lab is the Workforce Innovation Center’s flagship training environment focused on mobile device repair. Learners work with real phones, tablets, and laptops—practicing diagnostics, repair, and quality assurance in a supportive, inclusive setting. Our blended training model prepares participants for certifications and real-world technician roles through hands-on labs, e-learning, stackable micro-credentials, and on-the-job learning. Together, this pathway prepares participants for 20,000+ technician jobs nationwide.

For Employers

The Reverse Job Seek Model

The Reverse Job Seek model flips traditional hiring—starting with skills and real work tasks instead of resumes alone. Employers partner with the Workforce Innovation Center to define core job functions and performance needs, while training is aligned to those requirements before hiring begins. The result: job-ready talent, reduced hiring risk, and stronger retention—built through inclusive, skills-based pathways.
